Meet the Artisan
30 years of excellence…
Christopher Wall is an artist first and foremost with extensive experience in the architectural arts, preserving and restoring a broad range of materials for projects large and small. Aesthetic problem solving is rarely the same challenge twice. It requires an ever-resourceful ability to combine natural artistic sensibilities with the specific knowledge of an array of materials, their unique characteristics, and the particular needs of a project.
Christopher has lent his expertise to many distinguished clients on projects of note— Jerry Seinfeld, Liz Claiborne, Hermés, and Smith College to note just a few. Although demand for his artistry has taken him on travels both nationally and internationally on an as-needed basis, the majority of projects have been completed in New York City. He provides elegant plaster wall finishes for new interior projects and installations and color matching for any material to a precious original. This may include the many earth tones of stone or combinations of color inherent to a variety of materials more ornamental in nature. Color matching to every project is done instinctively, on-site and by eye, by pigments knowledge alone.
Client Morley Safer, CBS News/60 Minutes correspondent, has noted that “Chris is a meticulous artist, concerned with every detail, every shade and color. The net effect exceeded our expectations in every respect”.
The highest achievement for an artistic preservationist is for the entirety of the work and final results to be imperceptible from the original, completely inconspicuous. When preservation work is completed beautifully, no evidence of this work should ever be left behind. Christopher brings these techniques to bear with artful skill and experience, earning a peerless reputation from his long history of professional accomplishment.
